Kalaburagi: Karnataka’s proposed PM MITRA Textile Park in Kalaburagi will see its first phase executed through the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB), Large and Medium Industries Minister MB Patil said after holding a high-level review meeting on Friday.
The meeting, held at Vidhana Soudha, was attended by Kalaburagi district in-charge minister Priyank Kharge, Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh and senior officials from various departments.
After the meeting, Patil said the government has decided to immediately prepare a revised Detailed Project Report (DPR) by including provisions for external infrastructure connected to the mega textile project. The report would then be forwarded to the Project Approval Committee of the Union government for further clearance.
He said instructions have already been issued to the Department of Handlooms and Textiles to expedite the process.
The minister also stated that discussions were held on commencing land allotment procedures and developing internal infrastructure facilities within the textile park through KIADB at the earliest.
“Under the Central Government’s Development Support Scheme, the textile park will receive a subsidy of Rs 500 crore. The amount will be utilised for developing roads, water supply facilities, effluent treatment plants and residential hostels within the park,” he added.
Patil noted that the textile park is expected to provide a major boost to industrial growth and employment generation in the district. He said the State implementing agency should spend at least Rs 25 crore towards infrastructure development for the project, and officials were instructed during the meeting to initiate the process at the earliest.
Industries Department Principal Secretary S Selvakumar, Textiles Secretary Rohini Sindhuri, KSIIDC Managing Director Khushbu Goel, Textiles Commissioner KB Basavaraju and KIADB CEO Govinda Reddy were present at the meeting.
