Karnataka Cabinet Decides To Dismiss Gynaecologist, Two Engineers From Service

Bengaluru: The Karnataka Cabinet on Friday decided to dismiss gynaecologist Dr G.S. Balakrishna at the General Hospital in Koppa taluk of Chikamagaluru from service after a departmental inquiry found him guilty of selling a baby girl for Rs 50,000. Besides, two engineers will be axed from service after their conviction by criminal courts.
Law minister HK Patil, briefing mediapersons, said Dr Balakrishna had faced a departmental inquiry after he was accused of selling the infant delivered by Kalpana on March 14, 2020. The inquiry found that Dr Balakrishna had sold the baby to Hemalatha by creating fake documents to show her as the mother.
In other stern action against government employees, the Cabinet recommended the dismissal of B. Padmanabha, previous superintending engineer of Hemavathy Canal Circle, Channarayapatna, Hassan, after he was convicted by a criminal court. He is currently superintending engineer of Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation.
Similarly, the Cabinet meeting decided to dismiss junior engineer Prakash F. Hosamani of the Shiggaon lift irrigation division, from service after he was convicted by a criminal court in a separate case.
Patil said the Cabinet meeting would meet next week to discuss the Backward Classes Commission’s socio-economic and educational report-2015. Some ministers have given their opinion on the report and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has taken note of them.
