Kalyan Karnataka MPs Seek PMJVK Funds For Development Projects
The MPs said Kalyan Karnataka has historically remained underserved in terms of development and requires focused intervention to bridge gaps in essential infrastructure and human development. They also pointed to the region’s special constitutional status under Article 371J while seeking greater attention to its developmental needs
Kalaburagi: A delegation of MPs from Kalyan Karnataka has urged the Union government to sanction major development projects under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) for minority-concentrated areas of the region, citing gaps in education, healthcare, basic infrastructure and employment opportunities.
Led by Kalaburagi MP Radhakrishna, the delegation met Union Minister for Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju and sought financial assistance for a range of projects across minority-concentration blocks and urban local bodies in Bidar, Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Raichur, Koppal, Ballari and Vijayanagara districts.
The delegation included Raichur MP G Kumar Naik, Davangere MP Prabha Mallikarjun, Ballari MP E Tujaram and Koppal MP Rajshekhar Hitnal.

The proposals include school buildings, additional classrooms, hostels, ITIs, polytechnics and skill-development centres. In the healthcare sector, the delegation sought projects for primary and community health centres as well as maternal and child healthcare facilities.
The MPs also sought assistance for drinking water supply, roads, sanitation, community and Anganwadi centres, along with vocational training, entrepreneurship and skill-development programmes aimed at women and youth.
They urged Rijiju to direct the concerned officials to examine the proposals favourably and provide financial assistance under the PMJVK for eligible projects.
The MPs added that the proposed interventions would help improve access to education and healthcare, create livelihood opportunities and strengthen essential civic infrastructure for minority communities in Kalyan Karnataka.
