Indi Assembly MLA Resigns Over Denial Of Ministerial Berth

BENGALURU: Congress MLA Yeshvanthraya Gouda Patil on Monday resigned as MLA representing Indi Assembly seat in Vijayapura, over denial of a ministerial berth in the cabinet expansion. A 3-time MLA Patil tendered his resignation to Deputy Speaker Rudrappa Lamani. In his resignation letter, Patil stated he resigned voluntarily.
After tendering resignation, Patil told reporters in Vidhana Soudha stated he was miffed over his recent developments in the party and alleged “The party failed to recognise honesty and sincerity.”

“Leaders did not keep their word. It was inevitable for me to resign,” Patil said and stated “Leaders have created an atmosphere for my exit from the party.”
“I’m a veteran leader and will not go back on my decision to quit as an MLA,” the Indi MLA said and ruled out accepting the post of a Chairman of a Board/Corporation. “I was offered the post of Chairman earlier but had declined to accept the offer,” he told reporters in reply to a query.
“Shortly I will come back before the media persons after gathering opinions of my well-wishers in Vijayapura as well in Maharashtra,” Patil said and stated “My resignation has to be accepted within a certain time by the Speaker. If required I will again meet the Speaker and submit my resignation letter for consideration.”
His followers and leaders in Indi constituency have threatened to resign from the post they are holding in the party.
