Governor Convoy Cut To Conserve Fuel, CM Convoy Unchanged
“It is not a correct step to tackle the fuel crisis” : Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah
BENGALURU: Over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to cut down on his convoy and appeal to citizens to make judicious use of petrol/diesel to deal with the ongoing fuel crisis owing to tension in Middle East, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday “It is not a correct step to tackle the fuel crisis” and he suggested “Instead Narendra Modi should hold discussions with other countries and arrive at a consensus (to ensure adequate supply of fuel to the country).”
Meanwhile, Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot on Thursday stated he has reduced his convoy to the minimum required strength following an appeal by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In a video posted on his social media handle, only two cars followed the Governor’s car when they left Lok Bhavan in Bengaluru.
Speaking to reporters in Mysuru, Siddaramaiah said the measures suggested by Prime Minister Narendra Modi are “temporary” in nature and “It is good if he holds discussions with other countries.” “Let see if other States have started cutting down on convoy,” Siddaramaiah said before he decided on cutting down on the number of vehicles in his convoy.
In Mysuru, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah along with District in charge and Minister of Social Welfare Dr H.C. Mahadevappa, officials concerned, inspected ongoing development works in the city wherein his convoy was huge. A large number of cars followed the Chief Minister during his inspection of works at various points in the city.
