Four Elected to Rajya Sabha Unopposed From Karnataka
Along with Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress leaders-Mansoor Ali Khan and Pawan Khera, chairman of Media and Publicity, attached to All India Congress Committee also entered Rajya Sabha.
Bengaluru: President of All India Congress Committee Mallikarjun Kharge was among four nominees elected to Rajya Sabha unanimously from Karnataka on Thursday. Of the four, 3 are from the Congress party and the lone Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nominee. Congress party is in power in Karnataka and BJP is the main opposition party.
It was re-nomination for president of All India Congress Committee (AICC) Mallikarjun Kharge who was earlier elected to Rajya Sabha in 2019 and retired after his term ended a couple of days back. Kharge belongs to Kalaburagi in Karnataka and earlier represented Kalaburagi Lok Sabha seat before he entered Rajya Sabha.
Along with Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress leaders-Mansoor Ali Khan and Pawan Khera, chairman of Media and Publicity, attached to All India Congress Committee also entered Rajya Sabha.
On his election to Rajya Sabha, Congress leader Mansoor Ali Khan assured to raise issues of the State and nation interest in Rajya Sabha while Pawan Khera stated he was happy to serve Karnataka through Rajya Sabha.
Prof M. Nagaraj assured to discharge his duties as a Rajya Sabha effectively and stand for the cause of Karnataka. “I will strive to meet the expectations of the people,” he said.
