Found Filling Enumeration A Bit Difficult, Says CM DK Shivakumar

“There is an option to enter the details online using mobile phones. But it is better if all of us receive a physical copy and an educated member of the family can fill-up all the details for other members. Filled-up applications should be returned to Booth Level Officers by July 29,” said the Chief Minister to reporters in Bengaluru

BENGALURU: “I found it a little bit difficult to enter all the details in the (Enumeration) Form,” said Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, sharing his experience over filling-up details in the Form as part of Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls, a month-long exercise taken-up by Chief Electoral Office, Karnataka from Tuesday and officials chose to begin with Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar the day one of the Special Intensive Revision, since he is the first representative of the State.

However, Shivakumar handed over the duly signed Enumeration Form after filling-it up. The Deputy Commissioner of Bengaluru South Yeshwanth Gurukar along with officials concerned collected the duly signed Form from the family members of Chief Minister who resides in Sadashivanagar of Bengaluru while they are voters in Kanakapura of Bengaluru South district to get Electoral Rolls updated.

“There is an option to enter the details online using mobile phones. But it is better if all of us receive a physical copy and an educated member of the family can fill-up all the details for other members. Filled-up applications should be returned to Booth Level Officers by July 29,” said the Chief Minister to reporters in Bengaluru.

New voters should provide a valid certificate or a residential certificate and the State Government has decided to make it available the needed certificate such as residential certificate or caste certificate required to get into Electoral Rolls as sought by the Election Commission of India (ECI), he said and cautioned “Those who are not into Electoral Rolls might find it difficult to get benefits from the State Government (schemes).”

He made it clear only a resident of Karnataka can only have access to facilities such as 5-guarantee schemes such as up to 200 units of free power to households, Rs 2,000 cash benefit scheme for a female head of a family and others. Shivakumar said “Such a measure is already existent in other States.”
