Dr PS Harsha Assumes Charge as IGP of Ballari Range

Ballari: Dr PS Harsha on Wednesday assumed charge as the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ballari Range following his appointment by the State government.
On Wednesday the state government issued an order transferring Dr PS Harsha as the Ballari Range IGP. Varthika Katiyar who headed the Range was transferred to the Civil Rights Enforcement Directorate.
Speaking to the media after taking charge, Dr Harsha said he had been directed by the government and senior officers to ensure a lawful, impartial and firm approach to maintaining law and order.
He said the Ballari Range, which includes Ballari, Vijayanagara, Raichur and Koppal districts, is an important and largely peace-loving region.
“The police department is committed to strengthening law and order and ensuring people-friendly policing across the range,” he said.
“I took charge today and held a brief meeting with officers here. I will review all details with them,” he said.
Dr Harsha also visited the site where two groups were involved in an incident on January 1 that resulted in the death of Congress worker Rajasekhar.
