Karwar: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Friday spent more than two hours at the Sri Jagadishwari Temple in Andle village of Ankola taluk, offering special prayers and performing elaborate rituals, seeking blessings for the fulfilment of his wishes and the resolution of various issues.
Clad in a traditional dhoti and shawl, Shivakumar arrived at the Andle temple amid slogans raised by supporters hailing him as the next Chief Minister. He circumambulated the temple before entering the temple, where only a few close aides were allowed to accompany him, with strict restrictions imposed on entry into the temple premises during the rituals.
At the Jagadishwari temple, the Deputy Chief Minister performed a series of special pooja.
The Andle Sri Jagadishwari temple is known for the unique ‘Prasada’ ritual, through which devotees seek answers to specific questions.
Temple priest Ganesh Naik told reporters that Shivakumar had performed rituals and offerings.
“Mother Jagadishwari has given a positive signal to his queries. All his wishes will be fulfilled,” he said.
When asked whether the Deputy Chief Minister had sought clarity on the Chief Minister’s post, the priest nodded in response.
“Goddess has responded positively to all his prayers including post,” he said.
He further stated that the deity symbolically indicated favourable outcomes by offering prasada from the right side during all the questions placed by Shivakumar, and that a timeframe for the resolution of issues had also been indicated.
According to the priest, Shivakumar is expected to visit the temple again within a month.
Speaking to reporters after the pooja Shivakumar said he had been fortunate to offer prayers at Andle and Gokarna.
“Five years ago, I had come here and prayed for my family, and my wish was fulfilled. I had decided to return, and that is why I have come again,” he said, adding that he had sought blessings once more.
Earlier in the day, Shivakumar arrived in Gokarna by helicopter and offered prayers at the Sri Mahabaleshwara and Sri Maha Ganapati temples before proceeding to Andle.
