Convicted former Lok Sabha member Prajwal Revanna shift from Central Prison, Bengaluru to Hindalga Prison in Belagavi district on Monday was abruptly cancelled on official directions. The exact reason for Prajwal back to Central Prison was not known immediately.

It may be recalled here that a couple of months back, a raiding Central Crime Branch (CCB), Bengaluru at Central Prison Bengaluru came across a smartphone, a pen drive and a charger from the cell in which Prajwal Revanna was lodged. Later, forensic examination of the seized smart phone from Prajwal revealed sleazy videos.

With regard to the seizure of a smartphone from Prajwal, 5 personnel including the Central Prison Warder have been placed under suspension over their alleged role in transporting prohibited items to convicted prison in the high security division of the Central Prison.

A couple of days ago, Prison officials confirmed to shift Prajwal Revanna, serving life imprisonment in a rape case, from Central Prison, Bengaluru to Hindalaga Prison in Belagavi over a recommendation from police citing security reasons. On Monday, Prajwal was shifted in tight security and the vehicle in which he was transported reached Sira of Tumakuru where Prison officials abruptly cancelled their travel to Hindalga Prison and returned back to Central Prison, Bengaluru.

Sources said the shift to Hindalga Prison was cancelled following a senior Prison official directing his subordinates to return to Bengaluru. After travelling for about two-and-half hours, Prison ferried Prajwal back to Central Prison.

Further decisions on shifting Prajwal would be taken after consultation with legal experts, said sources.
