Bengaluru: An image posted by the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) social media team on Monday depicted Jammu and Kashmir as part of Pakistan. The post was quickly deleted but drew criticism, especially from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
KPCC president and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar called it a mistake, stating, “The post has been removed.” He denied claims that KPCC showed Jammu and Kashmir as part of Pakistan, calling it “lies” and saying, “It’s mischief by someone, and all social media staff have been sacked.”
BJP MLA and Leader of Opposition R. Ashoka called the post a “blunder” made in haste to criticise Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He noted it was deleted after Shivakumar’s intervention but claimed it revealed KPCC’s “love for Pakistan,” labeling its IT Cell a “sleeper cell” for Pakistan-based terrorists.
