Chadar Spread In Temple Sparks Protest In Kodagu
A group of persons arrived at the Temple located in a Wildlife Sanctuary and spread chadar and showered petals and then shot their act on mobile phones before it was circulated in public domain on social networking sites.
BENGALURU: Unknown persons alleged to have chadar and showered flower petals close to sanctum sanctorum of Gadduge Betta Sri Siddeshwara Temple at Maldare in Siddapura of Kodagu on Sunday afternoon while pro-Hindu organisation members alleged “an attempt to grab the land belonging to Temple and converted into a graveyard.”
A group of persons arrived at the Temple located in a Wildlife Sanctuary and spread chadar and showered petals and then shot their act on mobile phones before it was circulated in public domain on social networking sites. Learning of the incident, pro-Hindu organisation cleared the chadar and flower petals showered in the Temple vicinity. Sources said “such an attempt was made in the past as well at the Temple.”
A leader of a pro-Hindu organisation-Hindu Hitarakshana Samiti Bhojegowda said the Temple belonging to Chola dynasty and Hindus hold the Temple in high reverence and stated Islamic fundamentalists attempted to build “a ghori (tomb)” at the Temple vicinity. One such tomb site is close to the sanctum sanctorum pointing to alleged “land grabbing.”
He alleged the Temple is located on forest land and no action has been initiated so far while police have also not acted erring persons over hurting the sentiments of the police. The members of Hindu Hitarakshana Samiti staged a road blockade to condemn the incident and he claimed the majority of Hindus residing in the vicinity extended their support.
Sources said the Temple is located on the border of Siddapura in Kodagu and Peryipatna taluk of Mysuru district and the Temple draws devotees from both Kodagu and Mysuru.
