BENGALURU: A delegation of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led by its State unit president B.Y. Vjayendra on Wednesday met Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot with a demand to give direction to the State Government to get the alleged murder of Gavisiddappa Nayak by sleuths of National Investigation Agency (NIA) on August 3 in Koppal.

According to BJP leaders, a Hindu activist Gavisiddappa was allegedly murdered by Sadiq Kolkar using machetes, swords and talwar and stated the murder of Gavisiddappa was brutal one and heinous considering the accused severed the head of the deceased.

In a memorandum to the Governor, the BJP delegation stated “It is not impertinent to mention the murder of Gavisiddappa Nayak has all the typical and identical reference to the murder of Hindu activists-Suhas Shetty, Praveen Nettaru among others in coastal district of Dakshina Kannada district.”

Terming the killing of Gavisiddappa is in fitness of things, Vijayendra wanted the alleged murder be handed over to NIA for a fair, transparent and thorough probe. Over the murder, he said, Gavisiddappa was murdered on August 3 in Koppal in between 7.30 pm to 8 pm in front of Syed Madeemullah Qadri Mosque.

Vijayendra accused the State Government of adopting soft-corner towards jihadi elements which has made jihadi forces enter Koppal from coastal districts of Karnataka.

Leader of Opposition in Assembly R. Ashoka was present.
