Bidar: Infant Succumbs to Injuries After Stray Dog Attack in Humnabad
According to sources, the incident occurred when the mother had put the baby to sleep in the verandah of their house and was attending to household chores nearby. During this time, a stray dog allegedly attacked the infant.
Bidar: A five-month-old baby girl died after suffering grievous injuries in a stray dog attack at Dubalgundi village in Humnabad taluk of Bidar district on Saturday.
According to sources, the incident occurred when the mother had put the baby to sleep in the verandah of their house and was attending to household chores nearby. During this time, a stray dog allegedly attacked the infant.
Hearing the baby cry, the mother rushed to the spot and found the dog biting the child. She managed to chase the animal away. As the baby had sustained severe injuries on various parts of the body, the infant was immediately shifted to Bidar Institute of Medical Sciences (BRIMS) Hospital for treatment. However, the child succumbed to injuries despite medical efforts.
Forest and Ecology Minister and Bidar District in-charge Eshwar B Khandre has expressed grief over the incident.
The minister directed the district administration to provide compensation to the family as per rules without delay.
He also instructed officials to identify stray dogs in the district, especially those involved in attacks on people, and take appropriate control measures in accordance with the law.
In a statement, Khandre said the government stands with the bereaved family during this difficult time.
