Bengaluru: Police Recover 22 Gelatin Sticks, 30 Live Detonators From 3 Arrested
More arrests to follow in the case as police are on the lookout for a couple of more accused persons over their involvement in transportation of gelatin sticks and detonators
Bengaluru: Bengaluru West division police arrested three persons and seized 16 gelatin sticks in addition to the six that were recovered at the Kalasipalya bus stand on July 23 along with 30 live electric detonators. The police are on the look-out for a couple of more persons accused of involvement in transportation of gelatin sticks and detonators.
It may be recalled here, a cleaner at the bus stand came across an abandoned plastic bag at the entrance of the toilet and alerted the police. Police recovered six gelatin sticks and some detonators during the search.
As many as 60 personnel worked to gather the details of the accused and analysis of CCTV footage and technical evidence helped the police to nab the accused persons, said police commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh. He said the accused belonged to Kolar and no licence to handle the explosives.
The accused told the police they came across patrolling policemen at the bus stand and disposed of the bag fearing arrest. Verification of the statement of the arrested persons is underway.
The gelatin sticks and detonators were transported to Kollegal in Chamarajanagar district to be used to break stones in stone quarries and digging bore-wells, the commissioner said.
