Bengaluru Man Kills 7 Persons, Including Wife and Her Family, Arrested
The accused, Shekhar, allegedly committed the murders over two days at his house near Bhashyam Circle and dumped the bodies at different locations in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: A 45-year-old person has been arrested for killing seven people, including his wife and members of her family, in a case suspected to have stemmed from domestic discord.
The accused, identified as Indushekhar alias Shekhar, said to be a cab driver, is suspected of carrying out the murders over the past few days at his house near Bashyam Circle in Rajajinagar and subsequently disposing of the bodies at different locations.
The deceased have been identified as Shekhar's wife Sunitha, mother-in-law Roopavathi, Sunitha's brothers Shivakumar and Shankar, sisters-in-law Divya and Nalini, and seven-year-old Puneeth, son of Shankar.
The Rajajinagar police have arrested the accused and initiated an investigation. The case came to light after Nalini went missing, following which her mother approached the Srirampura police and filed a missing-person complaint.
While it is not yet clear, marital discord is said to be the possible motive behind the killings.
Police officials are investigating from all angles, including Shekhar's resentment towards his wife's family, prompting him to allegedly target them.
According to sources, the accused is suspected of using a grinding stone to bludgeon the victims to death. It is also suspected that some substance might have been mixed with their food to make them drowsy before the killings.
During a search operation near the foothills of Nandi Hills, police recovered the body of seven-year-old Puneeth. This is the first body being found in the case. Search operations are continuing at various locations to trace the remaining bodies.
Shekhar is suspected to have murdered Sunitha first and subsequently killed her mother and other relatives on different days.
Family members have demanded strict action against the accused.
