Bengaluru Government Schools Directed Not To Allow Private Events

“Anything which is not good for the children will not be allowed”

BENGALURU: Office of Department of Public Instructions, Bengaluru issued an order asking heads of  not to allow private parties to conduct their functions on government schools grounds or premises.

The order directed heads of government schools to confine themselves to conduct curricular activities, activities connected to co-curricular activities such as physical activities/games and not to entertain any proposal from private parties seeking permission to use government school premises or grounds for private functions.

Reacting to the order of the Department of Public Instructions, Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Madhu Bangarappa said “There were several instances in the past where many private functions/events were held and they were found not to be in the interest of children. We have issued an order in the interests of children.”

Adding, the Minister said, “Anything which is not good for the children will not be allowed.” Over criticism from RSS, Madhu Bangarappa stated “RSS functionaries have a dirty mind and we will not allow such dirty minds getting into the schools.”

Earlier, Minister of Rural Development and Information Technology Priyank Kharge wrote a letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah seeking ban on Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in government schools/grounds, temples belonging to Muzrai, State controlled monuments premises among other public places such as parks and grounds. Kharge feared RSS functionaries instilled rift among members of the society and said ban on RSS activities on government lands in the interest of society.

The Chief Minister directed Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh to act on the letter of Priyank Kharge and initiate suitable steps.
