Bengaluru: A major fire broke out near the Kanakapura toll plaza on NICE Road after a chemical-laden tanker overturned and caught fire on Sunday afternoon. The tanker overturned and caught fire while coming towards the city from Anjanapur.
According to the fire department, the control room received information about the incident around 12.30 pm and seven fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire. The fire was brought under control after more than one and a half hours, and took over five hours to completely extinguish the flames due to the chemical solvents the tanker was carrying.

The driver and his assistant escaped with minor injuries. No other casualties were reported.
The incident caused heavy traffic congestion, with vehicles halted for nearly 30 minutes on both carriageways. Talaghattapura traffic police diverted vehicles and eased congestion before normal traffic was resumed
