BBMP Chief Commissioner Directs Officials to Address Flooding in Leftover 44 Locations
Over attending flooding complaints in left over 44 locations, Chief Commissioner of BBMP Maheshwar Rao on Monday asked officials concerned to initiate measures to resolve flooding both on temporary and permanent basis
BENGALURU: As many as 210 locations identified as flood-affected in the limits of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), problems have been resolved in 166 locations while 44 locations needed to be attended.
Over attending flooding complaints in left over 44 locations, Chief Commissioner of BBMP Maheshwar Rao on Monday asked officials concerned to initiate measures to resolve flooding both on temporary and permanent basis.
Rao directed officials concerned to ensure smooth flow of water in storm water drains and it is necessary to clean silt accumulation in the storm water drains at regular intervals so as to prevent flooding of roads and residential areas.
“At locations where concrete walls are absent along storm water drains, steps should be initiated to prevent overflowing,” Rao said at a meeting in Bengaluru.
Police officials have provided waterlogging points on roads and necessary steps should be initiated to prevent waterlogging on roads. Side drains should be cleared off silt to make smooth flow of water, he said.
Out of 183 lakes under BBMP, Rao said 13 of them have been installed sluice gates and steps should be initiated to get sluice gates installed at all lakes and also de-silt lakes by framing proper plans.
The Chief Commissioner asked officials concerned to keep footpaths for hassle free walk for the pedestrians and wanted officials concerned to repair footpaths, if any, are needed and also to keep footpaths clean.
