Ballari Police Reshuffle: New SP, IGP Appointed

Ballari: The Karnataka government on Wednesday appointed a new Superintendent of Police (SP) for Ballari district and transferred the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Ballari Range, appointing a new Inspector General of Police (IGP) in her place.
Ballari SP Pavan Nejjur was placed under suspension on January 2 following clashes that led to the death of a person during police firing. In the interim, Chitradurga SP Ranjith Kumar Bandaru was given additional charge of Ballari district.
On Wednesday, the government appointed Suman Pannekar, currently serving as Deputy Commissioner of Police (Intelligence), Bengaluru, as the new SP of Ballari district.
Meanwhile, Dr P. S. Harsha has been appointed as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Ballari Range. The outgoing DIG, Varthika Katiyar, has been transferred to the Civil Rights Enforcement Directorate.
