BALLARI: Following the directions from the Ballari Deputy Commissioner, officials on Saturday took possession of a prime 4.44-acre property of Masonic Hall in the city.

Speaking to reporters, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mohammed N Zubair said the land, located in TS No 102 in Ballari, had been under the use of private individuals under the name of Masonic Hall since 1884.

However, no lawful utilisation of the property or mandatory renewals relating to the land had been carried out in accordance with the prescribed rules.

Following this, the Deputy Commissioner directed the Revenue Department to take possession of the property on behalf of the government.

Acting on the order, a team of officials visited the site on Saturday and completed the legal formalities required to bring the land under government control. Revenue department officials, accompanied by police personnel, carried out the operation and installed a board declaring the property as government land after completing the takeover process.

The property is estimated to be worth several crores of rupees.
