Ballari: Man Dies After Fall During Muharram Fire-Walking Ritual
The deceased has been identified as Devaraj (28). It is said that Devaraj was walking in the fire pit as per the ritual, holding a torch in one hand and a can of oil in the other.
Ballari: A 28-year-old man who sustained severe burn injuries after falling into the Alayi Kuni (fire pit) ritual during Muharram event at Kyadigehallu village in Kurugodu taluk succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Devaraj (28). It is said that Devaraj was walking in the fire pit as per the ritual holding a torch in one hand and a can of oil in another. While walking on the fire, he lost balance and fell sustaining serious injuries.
He had suffered critical burn injuries in the incident and was admitted to the Vijayanagara Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS) in Ballari on Friday. However, he failed to respond to treatment and died on Saturday.
Kurugodu Police have registered a case.
