Armed Gang Loots Jewellery in Mysuru

Employees said that while the robbers were threatening them, one of them conversed in Hindi, while others communicated with each other through gestures

BENGALURU: An armed gang of 5 members robbed a jewellery shop in Mysuru's Hunsur town, within a time span of 9 minutes. The robbers, who came to the shop in two two-wheelers, threatened the employees at gunpoint, loaded jewellery items into a bag and fled from the scene. 

The jewellery, Sky Gold and Diamonds, was inaugurated on April 27 this year. Police estimate that a large quantity of jewellery items have been stolen from the shop, based on the verification undertaken by shop employees. 

About 10 employees were present at the time of the incident, and 5 others had left for lunch, including the manager. None of them is injured. Employees said that while the robbers were threatening them, one of them conversed in Hindi while others communicated with each other through gestures. 

Persons present at the spot when the gang fled from the scene informed the police that the robbers had fired the gun in the air before they left. Sources also mentioned that one of the gang members left behind a helmet at the shop before they escaped.

IGP Boralingaiah inspected the spot, and a team of 5 police officers have been formed to nab the persons involved in the robbery. Police had also issued an advisory for jewellery shops regarding safety measures. Incidentally, the shop did not have any security personnel working during the dayshift.
