3 Held For Burning Leopard Carcass In Tumakuru
Forest official stated the accused claimed that they came across a dead leopard caught in a snare and burnt it
Bengaluru: Tumakuru forest officials arrested 3 persons in connection with burning a leopard carcass at G.D. Gouragondanahalli of Tumakuru taluk on Friday. Forest officials await necropsy report to determine the exact cause of the death of the leopard.
A forest official said forest personnel were alerted by locals over some persons engaged in setting on fire a leopard carcass and some forest personnel reached the spot to discover a leopard reduced to ashes. Two persons were arrested on the spot and the information provided by the duo, personnel arrested another person alleged to have involved in burning the leopard carcass.
The accused persons have been identified as Narayanappa, Shivakumar and Chandrashekar, all residents of Gouragondanahalli. The accused persons reportedly told the forest officials that they came across a dead leopard caught in a snare and they burnt it leading to their arrest. Investigations underway.
When asked whether the 3 accused deliberately killed the leopard over cattle kill, the forest official stated the accused maintained they came across a dead leopard caught in a snare and burnt it.
