21-Year-Old Student Arrested in Hydro Weed Ganja Case in Mangaluru

Mangaluru: Police officials have arrested a 21-year-old final-year BCA student for allegedly attempting to sell hydro weed ganja and seized about 1.042 kg of the narcotic substance valued at around Rs 35 lakh during an operation carried out on the Mulki Railway Station road on May 12.
The operation was carried out by the Panambur ACP team and Mulki police.
According to a press statement by City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy the accused has been identified as Suhana, daughter of late Mohammed Gouse, a native of Hulidevara Bana in Sagar taluk of Shivamogga district and currently pursuing her final-year BCA studies at a college in Kundapur.
Police said the accused was intercepted on the Mulki Railway Station road on May 12 while allegedly transporting the contraband for sale. During the operation, police seized hydro weed ganja weighing about 1 kg and 42 grams, a mobile phone and other materials allegedly used in the crime.According to investigators, the accused had allegedly procured the narcotic substance from Chennai and brought it to Mangaluru with the intention of supplying it illegally for monetary gain.
A case has been registered at Mulki Police Station under Sections 8(c) and 20(b) of the NDPS Act.
Police said the accused was also involved in earlier narcotics-related cases registered at Kavoor Police Station and by the Bengaluru International Airport Customs under various provisions of the NDPS Act.
