YSRCP Fails To Field Candidates In Several Municipalities
Amid the ongoing local body elections in Andhra Pradesh, chairperson posts in Darsi, Piduguralla, Yerraguntla, Mydukur, Rayachoti and Punganur municipalities and Gurazala and Kamalapuram Nagar Panchayats are likely to be won unanimously by the ruling coalition.
Amaravati: Amid the ongoing local body elections in Andhra Pradesh, chairperson posts in Darsi, Piduguralla, Yerraguntla, Mydukur, Rayachoti and Punganur municipalities and Gurazala and Kamalapuram Nagar Panchayats are likely to be won unanimously by the ruling coalition after YSRCP candidates failed to file nominations.
In Jammalamadugu in YSR Kadapa district and Guntakal in Anantapuram district, YSRCP has fielded both official and rebel candidates, but the contest is expected to be one-sided in favour of the coalition. The situation is similar in Yerraguntla and Mydukur municipalities, Kamalapuram Nagar Panchayat in YSR Kadapa, and Rayachoti and Punganur municipalities in Annamayya district, where no nominations were filed by the YSRCP.
In a major setback for the opposition, the YSRCP could not find suitable candidates to file nominations even in its strongholds such as Pulivendula, Punganur, Kamalapuram, Jammalamadugu, and Yerraguntla.
Meanwhile, the polls for the Mydukur municipality were postponed as the nomination forms received were in torn condition. AP SEC Anil Chandra Punetha said that a separate notification would be issued soon.
