YSRC MLC Zakia Khanam Quits Party, Joins BJP
Mayana Zakia Khanam said, “I have taken a bold decision to quit my elected position and join the BJP, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is ensuring equal rights for all. Modi has instilled confidence in Muslim women, and I am committed to working for the development of the BJP.”
Vijayawada: AP Legislative Council deputy chairperson and MLC Mayana Zakia Khanam joined the BJP in the presence of party chief and MP D. Purandeswari, after resigning from her MLC post and primary membership of the YSRC on Wednesday.
Welcoming her into the party, Purandeswari said that the BJP had once again proved its commitment to the interests and welfare of minorities, as demonstrated by Khanam's decision to join. She added that the party’s priority was to ensure welfare for the poor, irrespective of caste or religion.
