YSRC Raises Questions Over Liquor, Gutka Seizures in Tirumala
Bhumana questioned the mention of the accused persons’ caste details in the FIRs and sought an explanation from police on their relevance to the cases.
Tirupati:YSRC senior leader and former TTD chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy on Sunday alleged that TTD officials and police were trying to cover up liquor and gutka seizures on Tirumala by showing a different location of arrest in police records.
Speaking to reporters here, Bhumana said Eega Ramu was allegedly caught near Kousthubham Guest House between 7.30 pm and 8 pm on August 21 while delivering 182 quarter bottles of liquor to a person named Balaji. In a separate incident, Eega Priya was allegedly caught near Nagateertham with thousands of gutka packets, he said.
Bhumana said the FIRs, however, recorded that the accused were apprehended at the Alipiri link bus stand the next morning. He questioned the difference in the locations and alleged that the seizures on the hill were being concealed.
He demanded the release of CCTV footage from the two Tirumala locations and the Alipiri link bus stand. He also sought the phone-location details of SI Srivani and Eega Ramu for the period in question.
Bhumana questioned the mention of the accused persons’ caste details in the FIRs and sought an explanation from police on their relevance to the cases.
He alleged that liquor was being supplied to Tirumala on a large scale, claiming that around 1,000 quarter bottles were brought to the hill every day and sold for Rs 350 to Rs 500 against a purchase price of around ₹120. He demanded a detailed inquiry into the alleged racket and the role of those involved.
