YSRC Neglected Veligonda Delays: Naidu
Naidu alleged that the previous government had repeatedly misled the public on major projects and asserted that the coalition government was committed to completing the Veligonda Project while ensuring justice to all displaced families.
Nellore: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday launched a fresh attack on the previous YSR government, calling for the establishment of a museum to showcase what he described as its politics of deception.
Addressing farmers and project-displaced families at Gantavanipalle in Yerragondapalem constituency, Naidu said the proposed museum should educate future generations on "how the axe party (YSRCP) deceived people and misled them with false promises".
Alleging that the previous YSRC government had neglected the Veligonda Project, Naidu claimed it spent only Rs 980 crore on the project and provided rehabilitation to just 96 displaced families despite there being 7,225 project-affected families.
In contrast, he said the coalition government had sanctioned Rs 905 crore towards rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) and would spend more than Rs 3,000 crore to complete the project.
The Chief Minister alleged that the previous government failed to pay compensation to displaced families, left feeder canal works incomplete, did not remove excavated tunnel debris and dedicated the project to the nation without retrieving the tunnel boring machine that had become stuck. He also claimed that the present government had cleared pending bills worth `140 crore left by the previous administration.
