VIJAYAWADA: YSRC leaders and members of the Vaddera community on Saturday observed the birth anniversary of freedom fighter Vadde Obanna at the party’s central office in Tadepalli, paying tributes to his role in India’s freedom struggle.

Speakers recalled that Obanna served as a military commander to Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy and led a guerrilla campaign against British forces. Floral tributes were offered to his portrait, and the contributions of other Vaddera leaders, including Vadde Ramadasu, were also remembered.

Community representatives said the Vaddera community had received significant political representation during the YSRC chief and former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy government. They said the community was given an MLA seat, chairperson posts in the Macherla, Cheemakurthi and Pulivendula municipalities, and the Zilla Parishad Chairperson post in Guntur district. They expressed gratitude and said the community would continue to support the party.

Those present included MLC Lella Appi Reddy, former MLA Malladi Vishnu, Guntur ZP Chairperson Battula Anuradha, SC Cell working president Kommuri Kanaka Rao, Grievance Cell president Ankamreddy Narayanamurthy, Student Wing president Panuganti Chaitanya, BC Cell general secretary Battula Rama Rao, Chittoor district social media advisor Pawan, High Court advocate Baby Rani and several leaders from party-affiliated wings.
