YSRC Leaders Allege Irregularities In Nellore Corporation
YSRC leaders alleged financial irregularities in Nellore Municipal Corporation and sought an explanation from municipal administration minister P. Narayana.
YSRC district president and former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy and MLC Parvatha Reddy Chandrasekhar Reddy on Wednesday alleged large-scale financial irregularities in the Nellore Municipal Corporation (NMC) and demanded an explanation from municipal administration minister P. Narayana.
Addressing the media, Chandrasekhar Reddy alleged that the annual tax collection target had increased from `44–`66 crore during the previous government to `111 crore last year and `154 crore this year. He also alleged that the drinking water tax target had increased from `7 crore to `30 crore.
He alleged that 95 CLAP autos, costing `7.06 crore annually, were replaced with 126 tractors at an annual expenditure of `20.07 crore, and questioned the use of open tractors for garbage transportation.
The leaders also alleged irregularities in spending `26.74 crore on 19 sweeping machines and `11.90 crore on six garbage compactors. They questioned the hiring of 13 buses for VR High School students at `1.40 lakh per bus per month, besides `4 crore spent on Smart City vending stalls and expenditure on painting, maintenance and tree plantation.
Govardhan Reddy alleged that civic works were split into packages of around `4.90 lakh to avoid the tender process, with contracts allegedly being awarded to favoured persons. He claimed `12,000 was proposed per sapling for planting and maintenance.
The YSRC leaders said they had examined municipal budget and tender records and would place the alleged irregularities before the public. They demanded response from minister Narayana.
