YSRC Candidate’s Nomination Rejected After Heated Arguments
After hearing both sides, the returning officer rejected Chandrasekhar’s nomination.
Kakinada: Tension prevailed at the Amalapuram Municipal Office during nomination scrutiny on Monday after Telugu Desam (TD) leaders objected to the nomination of YSRC candidate S. Chandrasekhar from the 15th ward, triggering heated arguments between the two parties.
Officials initially declared Chandrasekhar’s nomination valid.
He subsequently objected to the nomination of TD candidate D. Rupesh, arguing that Rupesh had a pending ₹1,000 challan and should be disqualified.
Rupesh countered that Chandrasekhar owed ₹61,000 in municipal dues and questioned the validity of his nomination.
Chandrasekhar maintained that he had submitted a no-objection certificate from municipal authorities along with his nomination.
After hearing both sides, the returning officer rejected Chandrasekhar’s nomination.
Chandrasekhar lodged a complaint with district collector and district election officer R. Mahesh Kumar, seeking intervention and steps to secure the validity of his nomination.
