Nellore: Stressing that India’s youth are the nation’s greatest strength, Odisha Governor Dr. Kambhampati Haribabu on Sunday called upon students to embrace a spirit of service, acquire skills alongside academic degrees, and lead a determined fight against the growing menace of drug abuse.

Addressing ABVP activists at the Sri Janamanchi Gauriji Yuva Puraskaram programme on the third day of the 44th ABVP State Conference in Ongole, the Governor spoke on nation-building and social responsibility.

The programme was presided over by ABVP Andhra Pradesh state president Dr. Nuzilla Srinivas, with state secretary Yaganti Gopi, state conference reception committee president Shiva Reddy, and award recipient Girish Nallagutta of the Well Wisher voluntary organisation, Madanapalle, present on the dais.

Speaking on the occasion, Srinivas highlighted the inspiring life and values of Sri Janamanchi Gauri Shankar, whose legacy of service continues to motivate the youth.

Haribabu presented the Sri Janamanchi Gauriji Yuva Puraskaram to Girish Nallagutta and described the initiative of honouring social service organisations in Gauriji’s name as commendable. He said the National Education Policy would bring positive and meaningful change by promoting skill-based education.

Highlighting national integration, the Governor said ABVP’s SEIL Project had played a key role in strengthening ties between the Northeast and other regions. Recalling his tenure as Mizoram Governor, he referred to student exchange visits from southern states as a valuable experience.

The programme, conducted under the guidance of Lakshminarayana of Tirupati, witnessed large participation from ABVP activists, teachers, local leaders and representatives of educational institutions.
