Yogandhra-2026 Records 5 Lakh Registrations in Three Days

The state government is planning a series of programmes in the run-up to International Yoga Day, including theme-based events and various competitions to promote wider participation in yoga activities.

Vijayawada: The Yogandhra-2026 campaign has recorded five lakh registrations within three days of the launch of its online registration process, as the Andhra Pradesh government intensifies preparations for International Yoga Day on June 21.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has called upon one crore people across the state to participate in yoga activities as part of the observance. Registrations commenced on the Yogandhra portal on June 7.

According to official figures, Guntur district has recorded the highest number of registrations at 98,000, followed by Nellore, Nandyal, Kurnool and Palnadu districts.

AYUSH director Ronanki Gopalakrishna said registrations are being facilitated through yoga associations, gram and ward secretariats, and various other platforms.

The state has also surpassed its target for yoga master trainers. Against a target of 5,600 registrations, 6,939 yoga master trainers have registered so far. YSR Kadapa district recorded the highest number with 412 registrations.

In the yoga trainer category, 1.88 lakh registrations have been completed against the target of 2.5 lakh.

Yoga Movement Gains Momentum in NTR District

NTR district collector Dr G. Lakshmisha on Tuesday urged people to make yoga a part of their daily routine and actively participate in Yogandhra-2026, a statewide initiative aimed at promoting a healthier society under the Swarna Andhra and Arogya Andhra vision.

Participating in a yoga session on BRTS Road in Vijayawada, the collector joined officials and members of the public in performing yoga asanas. He said yoga programmes are being conducted across the district in line with the vision of the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister.

Dr Lakshmisha said yoga training sessions are being organised at BRTS Road, Beram Park, tourist destinations, temples, parks and government offices to encourage wider public participation. He said the initiative also supports the objectives of Swarna Andhra, Swachh Andhra and Arogya Andhra.

He noted that the AYUSH, medical and health, municipal administration, revenue, panchayat raj, youth welfare and education departments are jointly conducting the programmes. Different themes are being observed each day to ensure participation from all sections of society, he added. A special Police Theme Yoga programme has already been conducted.

Highlighting the district’s preparedness, the collector said nearly 10,000 trained yoga instructors are available across NTR district. He said practising yoga for 45 minutes a day could help prevent lifestyle diseases and improve overall health.

Vijayawada Municipal Corporation additional commissioner D. Chandrasekhar, district AYUSH officer Dr Y. Ratnapriyadarshini, youth welfare officer Dr Kolleti Ramesh, DM&HO Dr J. Indumathi and other officials participated in the programme.
