Year-Ender - AP: Crime Rate Dips by 6.17 Per Cent in 2025
On women safety, the AP police performed well by controlling crime. Only 16,347 cases were booked in 2025 against 16,994 cases last year, showing a decline in cases by 3.8 per cent.
Vijayawada: The overall crime rate in Andhra Pradesh has declined by 6.17 per cent this year, compared with the last year.
In a year-end review, director general of police, Harish Gupta, told the media on Monday that the number of crime cases registered during last year were 1,10,193 while this reduced to 1,03,397 in 2025.
Crimes like rioting, bodily harm, property crimes, crimes against women, crimes against SC/ST, actions linked to NDPS (narcotics), road accidents, cyber crimes and criminal social media indulgences were down.
Crimes related to economic offences witnessed a hike of 4.78 per cent this year. As for bodily offences, cases of ‘culpable homicide not amounting to murder’ showed an increase by 6.8 per cent in 2025.

As part of a special drive to trace missing girls and women in the last four months, 1,262 girls and 2,648 women were traced. As for cyber frauds, 62,414 complaints came in; and of them, 2,332 FIRs were registered. Out of a total loss of `815 crore, a sum of `98 crore was blocked in the banks and `3 crore refunded in 2025.
On road safety, there were a total of 17,730 road accidents this year, in which some 8,123 persons were killed.
The police used 347 drones to detect 6,993 cases pertaining to eve-teasing, organised gambling, consumption of ganja, detection of gamblers, crowd monitoring and crowd rescue operation.
