VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh BJP state spokesperson Sadineni Yamini Sarma criticised Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi over his allegations against the Election Commission of India.
She said here on Tuesday that Gandhi’s allegations of ‘vote chori’ in connection with the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the country were baseless. She alleged that the Congress leader was making the allegations to gain political mileage after being unable to accept the election defeat.
Yamini Sarma claimed that all decisions taken by the Election Commission of India were unanimous. She alleged that the Congress had made it a practice to blame the Election Commission and EVMs whenever it lost elections, while remaining silent when the results favoured the party.
Yamini Sarma said Rahul Gandhi’s remarks against the Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners were inappropriate, given his position, and alleged that such remarks would tarnish the image of constitutional institutions.
She said no changes had been made to Form-6 and rejected the allegation that Gen-Z voters were being excluded from the electoral rolls. She asked how 2.87 crore such voters could have been added to the electoral rolls if the allegation were true.
