World Tourism Day Celebrations In Rajamahendravaram On Sept. 27

VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh government will host World Tourism Day celebrations in Rajamahendravaram on September 27, tourism, culture and cinematography minister Kandula Durgesh said on Wednesday.
Chairing a review meeting with tourism special chief secretary S.S. Rawat and Tourism MD Pattan Shetty Ravi Subhash at the Secretariat in Velagapudi, Durgesh directed officials to prepare plans for tourism development and future projects.
The minister said Rajamahendravaram was the cultural capital of the state and that the upcoming Godavari Pushkarams would provide an opportunity to showcase Andhra Pradesh’s tourism potential. Discussions were held on arrangements including tent cities, homestays and improved facilities for pilgrims.
Durgesh directed officials to prepare tourism packages and promotional campaigns to attract tourists. He also stressed the need for road shows in major Indian cities and abroad to promote tourist destinations in the state. He said festivals should be organised in different regions throughout the year to sustain tourism activity.
The minister reviewed the progress of projects funded under various Central schemes and said detailed project reports for new tourism initiatives would soon be submitted to the Centre to secure additional funds. He said the tourism sector could generate employment opportunities for local youth.
