KAKINADA: The Andhra Pradesh government has initiated construction works for the Godavari Pushkaralu-2027 with the laying of stone for development works at a cost of `9.55 crore in Rajamahendravaram on Sunday.

Endowment minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy along with Rajamahendravaram Lok Sabha member D Purandeswari, Rajamahendravaram Urban MLA Adireddy Srinivas and the MLC Somu Veerraju laid the stone for development works for the Pushkaralu-2027 under the aegis of Endowment department amidst chants from the Vedic Pandits and students at Pandiri Mahadevudu Satram, near the Kotilingeshwara Swamy temple, on the banks of Rivier Godavari.

Ramanarayana Reddy announced the first-phase works preparation for the Pushkaralu. In light of the upcoming religious event for 12 days from June 26 to July 7, reconstruction and development works for temples in the surrounding area are being undertaken in advance. “Already, three state-level meetings on Pushakaralu have been conducted, including a meeting chaired by the chief secretary.”

The sub committee comprised 12 ministers and the CM. “Chandrababu has extensive experience in organising the Pushkaralu. Under his leadership, preparations are on, on a war-footing. Six endowment institutions would be developed at a cost of `9.55 crore in Rajamahendravaram City and the remaining works would be also identified on a priority basis,” he said.

He advised the Endowment and other department officials to prepare proposals for the Pushkaralu works and submit them to the government as early as possible.

Ramanarayana Reddy said that funds of `51,79 crore have been sanctioned for the development of 43 temples in Konaseema, East and West Godavari districts and tenders were invited. “Pushkaralu are a matter prestige to the state and the responsibility for conducting the event without any flaw rests upon everyone. It is expected that nearly 10 crore pilgrims will attend the Godavari Pushkaralu-2027 and the government is making arrangements to create all infrastructure facilities accordingly.”

He said preparations were on to facilitate holy baths in the Godavari Ghats to a stretch of 212km in Kakinada, Eluru, Konaseema, East and West Godavari districts. These Pushkaralu would be successfully conducted with the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

Rajamahendravaram Lok Sabha member Purandeswari said, “The Pushkaralu is a grand festival of immense spiritual significance. Both central and state governments are working in coordination to create amenities to the pilgrims on a grand scale.”

MLA Adireddy Srinivas said the endowment minister positively responded to the works and released `9.55 crore in Rajamahendravaram City. The MLC Somu Veerraju requested the CM to take steps for releasing `200 crore for the Pushkaralu from TTD. Endowment joint commissioner V Trinadha Rao, the district endowment officer EV Subba Rao, DEE Udaya Kumar and others were present.
