Women Urged To Turn Entrepreneurs, Says Women's Commission chief

Kakinada:State Women’s Commission chairperson Rayapati Sailaja has urged women to become industrialists by making full use of the incentives being provided by the state government.
During her visit to Kakinada district on Friday, she told the media that the government is taking several steps to ensure women’s protection through the Sakthi App, Shakthi Teams, women’s police stations and other initiatives. However, she added that women continue to face attacks and harassment in society.
She said that ICDS is conducting awareness programmes among girls about good touch, bad touch, the POCSO Act and other issues. She noted that Visakhapatnam is one of the safest places for women and that the state government is aiming to make every town and village equally safe for women and girls.
The chairperson hailed the Sthree Shakthi scheme, introduced by the state government, which allows women to travel free of cost in RTC buses.
Collector stresses water conservation, orders 29 irrigation works
Kakinada:Dr B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district collector R. Mahesh Kumar said that water conservation has become vital for human survival, and the government has placed special emphasis on storing rainwater and using it effectively for agriculture and drinking water needs.
He reviewed water resources, groundwater, rural water supply and sanitation issues at Amalapuram on Friday. He instructed officials to prepare proposals within a week for 29 works relating to the renovation of minor irrigation tanks in line with government guidelines.
Similarly, proposals should be formulated to provide additional benefits through the development of 17 drinking water storage ponds under the control of the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Departments.
The Collector instructed the Groundwater Department officials to take measures to recharge groundwater levels in four villages in the district. He said rainwater conservation is one of the government’s top priorities and directed officials to clear weeds from ponds, canals and wells.
To prevent leakage, he stressed that embankments should be strengthened and culverts repaired regularly to ensure the free flow of water.

15,608 applicants complete certificate verification for DSC-2025
Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government has issued call letters to 15,308 candidates and completed certificate verification for 15,608 applicants as part of the ongoing recruitment drive under the District Selection Committee (DSC)-2025 for a total of 16,347 teacher posts in the state so far.
Mega DSC-2025 convenor M.V. Krishna Reddy, in a statement issued here on Friday, stated that once the certificate verification process was completed, the selection list would be announced based on the priority given by candidates for the posts. He assured that the entire selection process and recruitment drive would be completed transparently within the stipulated timeframe.
