Woman Sells Away Two-Month-Old Female Baby For ₹ 2 L, Child Welfare Officials Rescued Her
The woman was shifted to Sakhi One Stop Centre for counselling at Bapatla: Reports
VIJAYAWADA: A woman allegedly sold away her two-month-old female baby to a childless couple hailing from Avanigadda in Krishna district at Repalle in Guntur district on Saturday.
According to Bapatla Women Development and Child Welfare project director D. Radha Madhavi, the woman got the deal of selling her female baby to a couple through mediators, and when trouble broke out with regard to payment of promised money, the issue was taken to the notice of the police, who in turn alerted the woman and child welfare authorities.
They rescued the baby and took her into custody and produced her virtually before the Guntur-based Child Welfare Committee, and they shifted the baby to the Sishu Gruha for care and protection, and later, they would take permission for giving adoption legally, as her mother was unfit for taking care of her protection due to her attempt to sell her away.
The woman was shifted to Sakhi One Stop Centre for counselling at Bapatla. Police are taking up inquiry on the issue.
Earlier, the woman was allegedly involved in the sale of a two-month-old boy to a couple from Kavali.
