ANANTAPUR: A woman from TGS Tanda, along with villagers, staged a protest outside the Kadapa DSP office on Friday, alleging that harassment by a private moneylender and the police led to her husband’s suicide.

According to Sowjanya, her husband Mahendra Naik, a resident of JGS Thanda in Kadapa district, had taken loans from private lenders and was allegedly subjected to repeated pressure to repay the dues. Unable to cope with the harassment, he reportedly died by suicide.

Sowjanya accused moneylender Sudhakar Naik of threatening her husband and alleged that the CK Dinne police failed to act on complaints. Villagers who joined the protest demanded action against those responsible and justice for the bereaved family.

Police officials said they were looking into the allegations.
