Vijayawada: The sudden and unexplained death of Satya Deepika, wife of IAS officer Christ Kishore Kumar, has triggered a police investigation in Vijayawada after her family expressed strong suspicion over the circumstances surrounding her demise.
Dr G. Christ Kishore Kumar, IAS, is serving as the mission director of the AP Mission for Clean Krishna–Godavari Canal, a flagship state programme.
According to police and hospital sources, Deepika (42) had been suffering from a throat infection and was admitted to a corporate hospital on December 31. Doctors reportedly informed the family that her condition was stable and improving. However, in a shocking turn of events, her health deteriorated suddenly, and she was declared dead in the early hours of Sunday.
Deepika’s sister, P. Sarita, a resident of Kakinada in East Godavari district, lodged a formal complaint with the Patamata police, alleging that the death was suspicious and seeking a comprehensive probe. Based on the complaint, police registered an FIR under BNSS Section 194 and launched an investigation.
In her complaint, Sarita stated that Deepika, an MBA graduate pursuing an LLB, was married a few years ago and was the mother of two children. She recalled that Deepika had spoken to her over the phone on Saturday morning, complaining of difficulty in speaking due to the infection and indicating that she might be discharged soon to visit her parental home. The news of her sudden death later came as a profound shock to the family.
A senior police officer said statements from family members and hospital staff are being recorded and medical records are under scrutiny.
