West Godavari, Eluru Get Pat from CM Naidu

 Kakinada: The Collectors of West Godavari and Eluru won appreciation from Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu at the recent collectors’ conference, for their impressive performances in various sectors.

West Godavari collector Nagarani said that in terms of positive public response, the district has emerged as the best in the state from September to December and won the first place with a 71 per cent positive public response on various issues.

She said the PMMSY scheme would benefit more people with a lower unit cost. The district achieved best performance in public distribution system and RoR survey while it secured the first position in control of crimes against women. In electricity services, drug control, distribution of NTR Bharosa pensions, public health and R&S registrations, the district bagged the second position.

In matters of RTC bus services, implementation of the Deepam 2.0 scheme and sanitation, the district got the third position, and in Panchayat services, it got the fourth position.

She said that regarding the F-line survey, APSRTC bus stations, management of Anna canteens, pollution control board and seeds, the district secured ranks from 8 to 13 respectively.

Speaking about the PMMSY scheme for fishermen, Nagarani said that boats can be provided with a unit value of Rs 5 lakh including a 33-foot boat, a 150 ks net and a 5 horsepower motor.

ELURU: In Eluru district, collector Vetri Selvi said the district solved 1147 grievances regarding 22A lands and removed 142.04 acres of land from 22A prohibited list in one day, under an initiative taken by the civil supplies minister Nadendla Manohar.

She said the district has been made ‘liquor-free’ by identifying 140 villages in 15 mandals as illicit liquor manufacturing areas and taking strong action against such gangs. These men were provided alternative employment opportunities through the Navodayam and Marpu programmes.

Self Help groups have been formed in the district, which provided loans to women for setting up small shops. “We got rid of the problem of illicit liquor manufacturing in the district, and this led to a better life in these villages.”
