Week-Long Campaign Launched Ahead of Bhogapuram Airport Inauguration

Vijayawada:The Andhra Pradesh government has launched a week-long campaign, “Uttarandhra Kalalaku Rekkalu” (wings to the dreams of north Andhra), from July 25 to August 1 across six districts to mark the inauguration of the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram and highlight its economic potential.
Announcing the programme, Information and Public Relations Director K.S. Viswanathan said Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the airport in Vizianagaram district on August 1, marking a major milestone in the development of North Andhra.
The campaign, being coordinated by the information and public relations department and district administrations, will cover Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Parvathipuram Manyam, Alluri Sitarama Raju, Anakapalli and Visakhapatnam districts.
As part of the campaign, digital countdown screens have been installed at prominent public locations. Quiz, painting and essay competitions on the theme “My District Takes Off” are being organised for students, with winners to receive VIP passes for the inauguration. Special prayers will also be offered at prominent temples across the region.
To promote tribal entrepreneurship, the Girijan Cooperative Corporation will showcase products such as Araku Coffee and Araku Turmeric, with select tribal produce to be presented to the Prime Minister.
The campaign will also feature awareness programmes on tourism opportunities and homestay registrations, women's rangoli competitions, cricket and beach volleyball tournaments, folk performances and cultural programmes honouring freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju.
Special events planned during the week include an industrial conference in Srikakulam, an MSME Expo in Parvathipuram Manyam, a Coffee Farmers' Conference in Alluri Sitarama Raju district, an NRI and Industrialists’ Meet in Anakapalli, and an IT Career Expo in Visakhapatnam.
On July 31, RK Beach Road in Visakhapatnam will host a marathon, cyclothon, flash mobs and a drone show showcasing the Bhogapuram airport project. Government offices across North Andhra will also be illuminated.
Viswanathan appealed to citizens and investors to participate in the campaign and make the inauguration a grand success.
