CSE, AI & ML, AI & DS and ECE approved; admissions under code VSUESF
Nellore: Engineering aspirants in Nellore district will have more options from the 2026-27 academic year, with the Andhra Pradesh government approving four self-financing B.Tech programmes with a total intake of 240 seats at the Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) College of Engineering, Kakutur.
The new programmes are Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI & ML), Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AI & DS), and Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE). Each course will have an intake of 60 students.
The approval was accorded through G.O.Rt. No. 153 issued by the Higher Education Department on July 25.
University officials said the introduction of the technology-oriented programmes would equip students with industry-relevant skills and enhance their employment prospects.
They noted that VSU College of Engineering is the only government engineering college in Nellore district and that eligible students would be able to avail themselves of the government’s fee reimbursement scheme as per existing norms.
The college has separate hostels for boys and girls, smart classrooms, modern laboratories, a computer centre, transport and sports facilities. The campus is also equipped with CCTV surveillance, electric perimeter fencing and other security measures.
Officials said the institution would focus on communication skills, personality development, internships, research, innovation, industry-oriented training and campus placements in addition to academic instruction.
The university authorities thanked the state government, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, the education minister and higher education department officials for approving the new courses.
Admissions will be conducted under the college code VSUESF, officials said.
