VSU Registrar Urges Students to Sharpen Skills
Dr. Suneetha said that schemes such as PM–USHA offer valuable opportunities for faculty development and significantly improve teaching standards
Nellore: Communication skills are essential for students to succeed in today’s highly competitive world, said Dr. K. Suneetha, registrar of Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU), at the valedictory session of a six-day faculty development programme (FDP) organised by the department of English with the support of PM–USHA. The programme concluded on Saturday.
The FDP was conducted on the theme “Teaching communication skills through prescribed degree textbooks and literary forms.”
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Suneetha underscored the pivotal role of English teachers in strengthening students’ language proficiency, analytical abilities, and creative thinking.
She emphasised that teaching should go beyond prescribed textbooks, and that integrating diverse literary forms into classroom pedagogy helps students acquire language as a vital life skill rather than merely an academic subject.
Highlighting the benefits of central government initiatives, Dr. Suneetha said that schemes such as PM–USHA offer valuable opportunities for faculty development and significantly improve teaching standards. Such programmes, she said, equip students to meet global challenges with confidence.
Suneetha assured that Vikrama Simhapuri University would continue to organise similar academic and capacity-building programmes to support the continuous professional development of faculty members. The programme was attended by the university college principal prof. Ch. Vijaya, PM–USHA activity coordinator, Dr. Shyam Sundar Bhagavan Bodavula, Dr. R. Prabhakar, Dr. B. Samuel Mark, V. Bhagya Jyotsna, T. Paul Armstrong, along with faculty members and university staff.
