Vijayawada:Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) commissioner H.M. Dhyanachandra has appealed to the city’s residents to cooperate with officials conducting the ongoing population census in Vijayawada. In particular, he wanted citizens to allow enumerators to put markings and numerical codes on their house walls.

Dhyanachandra said enumeration of citizens as part of the census process is underway across the VMC limits since May 4, 2026. Enumerators are collecting data from citizens door-to-door in a question-and-answer format.

The commissioner said details of 51,055 residents have already been recorded as part of the exercise. He urged citizens to provide accurate information to enumeration teams and support the completion of the census survey.

Dhyanachandra said marking official symbols and numerical markings on houses indicate completion of enumeration at the respective households. He underlined that markings are part of administrative procedures linked to the census and are intended solely for official use.

The commissioner requested public to cooperate in smooth completion of the census.
