VISAKHAPATNAM: The Vizianagaram district launched a yoga initiative at popular tourist destinations on Sunday.

This initiative aligns with the Andhra Pradesh government's month-long yoga campaign called the ‘Yoga Andhra’ programme. The initiative aims to make yoga accessible to all residents while showcasing the district's tourist attractions.

District officials announced that yoga demonstrations will be held at four prominent tourist locations over the coming weeks. The schedule includes Rama Narayana on May 30, Chintapalli Beach on June 6, Rama Tirtham on June 12, and Tatipudi Reservoir on June 19.

Training programmes for yoga instructors are currently underway, with 100 master trainers and training of trainers (TOT) participants receiving instruction. The second day of training was conducted Sunday at the district’s indoor stadium, with simultaneous online sessions reaching participants across the region.

A major demonstration is planned for June 10, featuring thousands of workers from the rural employment guarantee scheme. Each district in the state has been assigned specific themes under the Yoga Andhra programme, with Vizianagaram preparing extensive arrangements for this large-scale event.

The municipal corporation has allocated ten ‘yoga streets’ throughout Vizianagaram city, where demonstrations will be held every other morning on main roads. These sessions are open to both trained instructors and general public participants. The first such demonstration is scheduled for Monday morning at the main road near Sri Paiditalli Ammavari Temple.
