Vizag Veteran Athletics Association Shines In Malaysia

VISAKHAPATNAM: At the 37th Malaysian International Open Masters Athletics Championships 2025, five veteran athletes from the Visakhapatnam Veteran Athletics Association made an impressive mark. Held from the 23rd to the 25th of this month in Malaysia, the team secured 11 medals – six gold, two silver, and three bronze – demonstrating their prowess on an international stage.

In the women’s category, H. M. Sujatha (67+) clinched two gold medals in the discus throw and shot put. K. Matsyakonda (55+) added to the tally with a gold in the javelin throw, while K. Purnima (40+) earned a silver in the discus throw and a bronze in the javelin throw. In the men’s section, R. Manjunath (35+) triumphed with three gold medals in the 800m, 1500m, and 3000m events, along with a silver medal in the long jump. K. B. V. M. Prasad showcased his talent by winning gold in the javelin throw and triple jump.
