Visakhapatnam: The family of techie Radha Gayatri, who died under suspicious circumstances at a homestay in Mussoorie, met Gajuwaka TDP MLA Palla Srinivas Rao on Monday morning at his office.

Seeking justice, her mother and other family members sought punishment for those responsible for her death. The MLA consoled the grieving family. Palla Srinivas Rao said he spoke with Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha over the phone about the case. He assured them that the state government would extend full cooperation and support to the family. Since Gayatri’s death occurred in Mussoorie, Uttarakhand, he noted that the final investigation and jurisdiction rest with the local police there.

It may be recollected that Gayatri had travelled to Mussoorie with her husband Soumya Sricharan and was found dead at a homestay there on the 14th of this month. Mussoorie police initially registered a suspicious death case after noticing blood from Gayatri’s nose.

Suspecting the role of his son-in-law, Gayatri’s father Parupudi Sudhakar lodged a complaint with both Visakhapatnam and Uttarakhand police. Based on his complaint, the Mussoorie police booked her husband for attempted murder.

Sudhakar also met Uttarakhand DGP Deepam Seth on Sunday and expressed his grievance over the way the local Mussoorie police were handling the case and sought a detailed probe into the circumstances that led to his daughter's death. He informed the DGP that his daughter was allegedly harassed after the marriage. The DGP assured Sudhakar of an impartial investigation and action against the accused, if proven. Based on his appeal, the Uttarakhand DGP ordered the formation of a special investigation team to verify the timeline of events leading to her death.
